HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-15-3814 Council idinutes Pulaski,Virginia, Nov. 15, 1938 The Council of the Town of Pulaski met in monthly session at 7:30 P. M. at the Mayor's office. PRESENT There were present: Mayor E. W. Calfee, presiding; Lottie R. Runion, Clerk, and Councilmen: A. T. Eskridge, A. M. Bushong, F. x. Seagle, T. L. James and G. C. Hall. Absent Councilmen T. J. *allner and J. E. Bunts. Also, present: ii. W. Gatewood,Director of Public ''norks. MINUTES The minutes of the regular meeting held on October 4th, 1938 were read and approved. BILLS & A detailed statement of the regular bills and pay - PAYROLLS rolls for the month of October was audited, approved, and on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, ordered paid. Said bills are given at the conclusion of these minutes. BUILDING The following Building permits, coming within the P F'RUAIT S requirements of the ordinance were granted: to.Pulaski County School Board, for a one-story brick gymnasium on the north side of 2nd St. N.J. between Jefferson and Randolph Avenues, to cost X45,000.00; to Pulaski County School Board for a one-story brick school building for colored school, on the north side of 2nd St. N. between RE•ndolph Ave. and Altoona Street, to cost 432,000.00; to B. S.Stevens for a one- story brick and concrete filling station on the west side of Washington Ave., between Washington and Jefferson avenues, �eplaceraent of old storeroom), to cost x7,000.00; to Harold S. Wilcox for a one-story frame dwelling on the south side ofStewartAve., between Jackson and Graham Sts., Locust Hill, to cost X2,500.00; to Glenn B. Sharpe, for a one-story frame dwelling on the south side of 2nd St., So. between Jefferson Ave. and Valley St., to cost X1,950.00; to F. R. AUDITORIS Report of James P. miller, CPA, who auidited the REPORT town boo M, was submitted, and on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, was approved and ordered filed. FRED I RYAN On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously POLICE passed, the Council voted to add another patrolman to the FORCE present Police staff. On motion duly ;rade, seconded and unanimously passed, Fred 1a. Ryan was elected. PETITION On motion duly made, seconded and unanii:7ously STREET LIGHTS passed, a petition presented by certain citizens in East Pulaski E. P requesting street lights, was referrea to the Light Committee for investigation. PETIIION A petition presented by certain citizens in Brown "vATER LINE BRO'Yi'N ADD. Addition, East Pulaski, requesting larger water line, was referred to 1r. A. +. Gatewood, Director of Public i:orks and H. C. Jackson, Superintendent grater Depart,ient, for investigation. CURB & GUTTER On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed i;. Pulaski, Va., Nov. 15, 1938 OPTION On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the mayor FUTURE WATER was authorized to take an option for six (6) Months on SUPPLY twenty-seven hundred (2700) acres of land in Wythe County, the property of the Hagy Estate, for the purpose of investigating as to a possible future gravity water supply.
