PRESENT There were present: Mayor L. `~JJ. Calfee, presiding, Lottie R. Bunion, clerk; ti. W. Gatev~ood, director of public works, and Councilmen: A. T. Eskridge, T. J. Wallner, L. E. V`dhitesell, J. E. Bunts, F. ti.. 5eagle and T. L. James. Absents A. D~. Bushong and G. C. Hall. ~zl'~UTES The minutes of the regular Meeting held on January 7th were read and approved. BILLS & A detailed statement of the regular bills and ps.yroll PtiYROLLS for the month of January was audited, approved and on motion.. ,.,~, ~- duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, ordered paid. ~ Said bills are given at the conclusion of these minutes. BUILDING The foilo~ng;tbulding permits, coming within the PER.dITS requirements of the ordinance were Howard C. granted., To. Gilmer, Jr., for concrete and brickrtwo-story dwelling on the south side of 12th Street, I~. UJ. between Prospect and Randolph avenues, to cost X3,750.00; Joe ~J. Pulaski, Va., Feb. 4, 1941 REQUEST On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, Ht~RRIS MOTOR the request of iiarris Motor Company for permission to use CO. the Northwest corner of 3rd St.-and Vr'ashington tivenue, North, as a Taxi Stand, was denied, due to congestion of parking condition. ESTIMtiTE On motion duly, made, seconded and unanimously passed, 3rd St. t1• E. the. Council ordered an estimate made on the cost of re- constructing 3rd St., N. E. from Franklin avenue to Walnut tivenue. The mayor submitted a proposal of the Appalachian A.E.PO~~ER FRAtiCIiISE Electric Power Company with reference to the proposed PROPOShi, Franchise. of ter discussion of the matter, on motion duly . made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Mayor was authorized to make a personal investigation of franchises in other towns and to take with him such .other members of the Council as would be available for the trip.
