M.s on the 20th day of June, 1968, called by C. V. Jackson, Mayor, in the Municipal Offices in the Town of Pulaski, Virgi~iay for the purpose of considering the following: 1. Public hearing on the 1968-69 Budget, e: 2. To consider and take action on Grant. Agreements re: New River Valley Airport extension. Jackson, stated this was the time and place as advertisied in the local newspaper for a public hearing on the 1968-69 budget for the Town of Pulaski. Town Manager Norton advised that all legal requirements had been met, and Vice-Mayor Frye asked if there was any one present who wished to speak either for or against the proposed budget. There appeared to be no one present who opposed the said budget, and the present members of Council together with Town Manager Norton, entered into a full discussion of the budget with the Mayor and Councilmen-elect. On motion of Councilman Aust, seconded by Council~.n Ratcliff, and carried on the following recorded vote, it was, RESOLVED, that the Budget of the Town of Pulaski for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1968 and ending June 30, 1969, be approved as follows: Raymond F. " " ~ Council mins. contd. 6/20/68 Town Manager Norton advised that the Federal Aviation Agency had approved a federal Grant involving the extension of the runway at the New River Valley Airport to 6200 feet, and widening of same to 150 feet, the round figure of $690,000. having been approved to cover the cost of this improvement, and that the sum of $345,000. would be from FAA funds and $345,000. would be State and local participation; that all of the participating NRVAIRPORT political subdivisions would be asked to approve and sign the RIDNWAY EXT.TO COST $690,000; Grant Agreement. Due to the urgency of this matter, on motion AREA'S SHARE $345,000 of Councilman Gallimore, seconded by Councilman Aust, it was, RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Town Clerk be authorized to sign COUNCIL ACCEL'TS FED.GRANT the said Grant Agreement on behalf of the Town of Pulaski. Said AGREEMENT Resolution being as follows: NEW RIVER VALLEY AIRPORT, DUBLIN, VIRGINIA Project No. 9-44-002-06 ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT AGREEMENT DATED JUNE 19, 1968 R FC(1T.TTTTl1N WHEREAS, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Agency has tendered to the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, the Grant Agreement for Project No. 9-44-002-06, whereby the Sponsors, jointly and severally, acknowledge, recognize, and represent the New River Valley Airport Commission to be their Agent to receive the pay- ments of Federal funds under the terms of said Grant Agreement, executed between the Sponsors and the United States; and WHEREAS, the Offer made by the United States must be accepted RESOLUTION in the manner provided in the terms thereof and in accordance with the regulations incorporated therein by reference; there- f ore, BE IT RESOLVED: (1) That the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, shall enter into said Grant Agreement as therein set forth and as hereto attached, not to exceed the sum of $345,000.00. (2) That the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, does hereby ratify and adopt said Grant Agreement, dated June 19, 1968, and that said Grant Agreement shall be and hereby is as set forth in the attached Grant Agreement dated June 19, 1968. (3) That the Mayor of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, C. V. Jackson, is authorized and directed to execute said Grant Agreement on behalf of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, as evidence of the Town's acceptance and the Clerk to the Town Council, Gladys Dalton, is hereby authorized and direct- ed to impress the official seal of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, thereto and to attest said execution.
