Chitwood and Kenneth t°'illiams, representing the ''ula:ski Hospital, Inc. The invocation was given. by Councilman Aust. Piinutes of the regular meetir_g of December l5, 1959, were approved. T~?ayor Jackson remarked that, during the new year many of the projects now being undertaken by the Town would be completed and he thanked the members of Council for their .fine spirit shown during the past year. Town Manager Noland reviewed the request of Pulaski Hospital, Incorporated, that thta town sell them a 50 ft. front lot fronting on 10th Street. He presented copies of a PULASF~I HOSP. ir1ITH~ap of the area in question on which was proposed the opening, of DRE1s~ REQ. TO PURCHASE 5Q FT. LOT OA lOTHMaury Street between Longview Court and 10th Street. Dr. Chitwood ST. PRO~rIDIDiG tf,AURY ST. BET. LOTIGVT>.~•~ CT. stated that if this street could be opened that the Hospital would & 10TFi BT OFEAJED withdraw their request for purchasing of the lot inasmuch as this would salve their parking situation whic:~h was their sole reason for wanting the lot on 10th Street. After a discussion of this matter, on motion of ~d. F. U'hite, seconded by Glen K. Aust, and carried unanimously, it was RESOLVED that Maury Street between Longview Court and .10th Street, crest, be opened; that the work involved in il:~^~URY ST. BST. LONGV~E[~T CT. & the opening of this street be done gradually by the town forces and T'~:T~1TH ST. Z'0 BE OPEIv~D not be considered a special project. 31~E Council mins. contd. Jan. 5, 1960, ~. p. m. Mayor Jackson stated that Mr. Norman K. Coker had stated he would be glad to serve on the new Recreation Commission and on motion of T. J. Coker be, and he hereby SET ~vdITH LOTS DRAWN is, appointed as the seventh member of the New Recreation Commission. Lots were drawn to determine the terms of the various members, the result of this drawing was as follows: 1 Year Term: Ned Bane and J. B. Brillheart, Jr. 2 Year Term: Mrs. Alton I. Crowell and Glen K. Aust 3 Year Term: Conway Smith, J. Pn. Shepherd & Norman K. Coker At the end or the terms as stipulated, reappointments or the appointment of replacements will be for terms of three (3) years. Tom Attorney Moore advised that as a result of the condemnation proceedings in the Circuit Court for lands TOWN ATTY. NOTIFIED located behind the town's Filter Plant, the following awards had COUNCIL OF AT~,rARDS GRAPITED BY CIR. COURT been made by the Court: TO PROPERTY OWNERS FOR THEIR LAND BACK OF John Smith, awarded :;200.00 for land, with no damages FILTER PLANT-APP ROVED Ray Wirt and wife, awarded $].00.00 for land and X75.00 for damages BY COUPICIL F. J. Lugar, awarded X75.00 for .land and X100.00 for damages Mrs. Ethel Cole, awarded $150.00 for land and X200.00 for damages Making a total of `~900.G0 for land, plus the damages After a discussion of same, Councilman Larson, made the motion that the awards as outlined above be accepted, and that the Town Manager be, and he hereby is, aurhotized to pay to the property owners the sums as designated by the Court, plus the cost of court proceedings, from the Water Fund, appro- priated to cover same.
