M., November 26, 1946. PRESENT There were present: Mayor A. T. Eskridge, presidin~; Lottie R. Runion, clerk; A.W.Gatewood, director of public work ; Roby R. Sutherland, attorney, and Councilmen: C. V. Jackson, j I T. F. Wirt, Howard R. Imboden, W. F.White, F. A. Seagle, I. R~ Carper, W. D. Aust, and G. C. Hall. F. White, seconded by C. V. Jackson and unanimously passe, ED the Council authorized that one parking meter be eliminated at.j the rear entrance of the Garter store on the east side of ~ r I Jdfferson,Avenue. N., between 2nd and 3rd streets, north, for s__er_v__icing the Garter store and that this space be included in restricted parking area;~az d marked with the ,yellow line, and that this meter be moved and installed at the driveway entrant to a parking lot on the east side of Jefferson Avenue in the s block - this action rescinding the former action of the Counci providing this entrance to the parking lot on Jefferson Ave. N CITY VIEW SIJB-DIVISION EldridP;e H. Blair, representing himself and (Blair Bros.) APPROVED Lloyd Blair, appeared before the Council and submitted plans a plat showing a new sub-division known as CitT,r View Heights, consisting 1 arg~ly of a portion of the former P. W. Spangler land lying at the south end of Jefferson Ave., South, in the T of Pulaski., anfl~requested that this sub-division be approved. After consideration, on motion of W. F. White, seconded by C. Jackson, the lay-out of the subd:~vision was approved in line w th the plat submitted by P,~r. Blair, which will be found in the ma records of the Town of Pulaski, with the following restriction ; that here will: be no' b~il~dings on the. following lots Plumbers 34 through 44 inclusive, and that this restriction be carried n the ~~~~ L.A.DUNLAP VENEER MFG. Dunlap with his attorney, appeared before the Council and submitted an application for steel, cement and cement ~`~ block veneer? manufacturing plant on the east side of Lake Street, between Commerce and First Sts, South, to cost X8500.00, together with an application for permission to construct a spur railroad track across an East-West alley in Blocks Nos. 110-115 as shown on the map 'of the Town, the alley in question being parallel to and approximately one hundred thirt~* (130) feet south of Commerce Street. This spur to be taken off of the exisiting track on the property of the b~irginia Gas & Utilities Company across the alley mentioned and into lots '7 to 15 inclusive in block 115. It was stipulated that the said L. A. Dzznlap agrees that the track will be constructed so as to conf orm with the grade of the alley .and the said L. A. Dunlap further agrees to maintain the track and that portion of the alley immediately adjacent to the track in such manner as not to impe7de or hinder traffice thereover. Tn the matter of request of J. S. Herron for permission to connect with the town's power line to Warden Spring auxiliary supply, referred to the light committee for investigation and report at the ATovember 8, 1946 meeting of the council the chairman of the committee recommended in the event permission were granted that a flat charge be made, and action in the matter was deferred. " KERSEY BOTTOM" The director of public works submitted plans for a STREET AT7THORIZE~ Proposed street leading. off of Commerce Street and extending southward to a connection at Clark Street, Miflin Avenue and a street formerly dedicated by T.W. Kersey, this street being planned to give a western outlet to the properties on the south side of Peak Creek in the neighborhood known as "Kersey Bottom", and requested that the Council approve the same. After consideration, on motion of C.V. Jackson, seconded b y Hotivard R. Imboden and unanimously passed, the plan w as approved and the director of public works was authorized to proceed with the preparation of the deeds, etc. ~~~ Council Minutes contd. AUST'STREET The director of bli fl pu c works reported that Aust Stree , leading off Peppers Ferry Road had been covered with crushed stone, as previously authorized by the Council. ~ PARKING The director of METERS public works reported that the i parking meter posts had been installed and that the meter head would be completed within a few days, but that no re$tricted parking signs had been received. BU The following building permits coming within the ILDING PERMITS requirements of the ordinance were gra-rated- subject to governmental requirements; TGErnest Painter for one-story cinder block dwelling painted white, on the tivest side of Lexington Ave., between Fi t and Second streets,S. E. to cost X5,000.00; A.C. Powers for one story frame dwelling on the west side of Bertha Street at Pine St. S.W. to cost X5,000.00; J. L. Burks fbr two brae-story frame dwellings on the west side of Magazine street near Mt Olivet Rod, to cost X3,000.00 each; Miss Nora Virginia Conner for addition to frame dwelling on the west side of R andolph Ave., between i 2nd and 3rd streets, N. W. to cost from X600.00 to X700.00; Louis Powers for permit to remove an old garage and wash house I in rear of residence on the east side of Madison Ave., So., ~nd~ to replace with a new concrete block structure to cost X800.00, 1 this also including a small porch to house connecting with wash house. 3 BUILDING PERMITS There being no further business the Council adjourned 10;25 o~clock P.
