A RESOLUTION HONORING ROLAND E. COLE FOR 47 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE PULASKI FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia desires to recognize and honor
those persons in the community who have freely given of their time and talents in dedicated
service to the Town and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Roland E. Cole began his volunteer service with the Pulaski Fire
Department on September 1, 1962 rendering faithful and distinguished service as a firefighter
for 47 years until his retirement on May 1, 2010; and
WHEREAS, in the course of his duties, Lieutenant Cole compiled hundreds of hours of training
in his career with the Pulaski Fire Department, earning his certification as a firefighter through
the Virginia Department of Fire Programs; and
WHEREAS, during his career Lieutenant Cole responded to over 600 incidents and despite a
lingering illness in later months, continued to serve the department on the support crew,
assisting with dispatching and logistical support during incidents until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Cole passed away on May 20, 2010 at 72 years old;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia
sitting in regular session this 20th day of July 2010, that the Town Council does hereby
recognize and commend the forty-seven years of faithful service of Lieutenant Roland E. Cole
as a member of the Pulaski Fire Department;
BE it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council does extend to the Cole Family their
sincerest condolences and thanks for their support of Lieutenant Cole in his service to our
community.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 20th day of July 2010 by
the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
