HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-34Resolution 2014-34 A Resolution Authorizing Submission of an Application to The Governor's Industrial Revitalization Fund for the New River Valley Fine Arts Center WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Community Development is facilitating applications to the Governor's Industrial Revitalization Fund; and, WHEREAS, not for profit organizations, cities, counties, towns and local development authorities may apply for funding through Governor McAuliffe's Commission on Economic Development and Job Creation; and, WHEREAS, the Rutherford Building at 419 North Washington Avenue, built during the 1930's, may qualify for funding, due to its condition and critical location in the Downtown; and, WHEREAS, the Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley owns the structure and has raised approximately $1.2 million in matching funds for the project; and, WHEREAS, the awarding of the Industrial Revitalization Funds will allow the Fine Arts Center to complete the project; NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 8th day of October 2014 does hereby authorize the Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley to submit an application in the amount of $600,000 to the Department of Housing and Community Development. This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 8th day of October 2014 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows: Heather L.
