A Resolution Honoring the Pulaski Mariners
2013 Appalachian .League Champions
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski has along and proud legacy of minor league baseball
in the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Pulaski Mariners finished the regular season with the Appalachian
League's best record of 41-27, coming from behind to capture first place on the day
before the season ended, then swept the Bluefield Blue Jays in two games to win-the
Appalachian League's Eastern Division Championship for the first time since 2010; and,
WHEREAS, the Mariner's continued their;winning ways clinching the 2013 Appalachian
League Championship with another thrilling come firom behind win over the Greenville
Astros by a 6-5 score; and,
WHEREAS, the Mariner's not only distinguished themselves as a team but won
individual honors by having four members, the mosf of any Appalachian League team,.
named to the All-Star team, in addition to having Edwin Diaz named "Pitcher of the
Year" and Tyler Smith, shortstop, named "Player of the Year";
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia sitting in regular session this 17th day of September, 2013, that the Council, on
behalf of the Town and its citizens, extends its heartfelt thanks and congratulations to
the coaches, players and staff of the Pulaski Mariners for their tremendous season and
for bringing the 2013 Appalachian League Championship to our community.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 17th day of
September 2013 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
