A Resolution Recognizing Janet P. Johnson for Her Service
to New River Community Action and the Town of Pulaski
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia desires to honor and recognize
those citizens of the town who have given of their time, talents and effort in a career of service
to the Town of Pulaski and its residents; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Janet P. Johnson will be retiring from her position as Lead Community Service
Worker with New River Community Action (NRCA) on February 28, 2014, concluding a career
of 43 years of service to the Town and its citizens as a member of this agency; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson began her career with the agency as a Teacher's Aide in 1970
remaining in the educational outreach programs of NRCA as a Teacher and Social Worker for
Head Start until she was named Pulaski Area Office Director on January 16, 1980, a post she
has held, either as Director or Lead Community Service Worker, until the present day;
WHEREAS, she has also contributed to the welfare of the community as a private citizen
working with other organizations among which are the Pulaski County Emergency Needs Task
Force and the Pulaski Free Clinic;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia,
sitting in regular session this 4th day of March 2014, does hereby extend its sincerest thanks
and commendations to Ms. Janet P. Johnson, in recognition of her 43 years of service to New
River Community Action and to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski,
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council also extends the best wishes of the community
to Ms. Johnson for a fulfilling and enjoyable retirement.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 4th day of March 2014 by
the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
