RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF
LT. ERVIN R. BARR UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to recognize those employees who have given many years
of exemplary service to the Town and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ervin R. Barr will be retiring on July 31, 2014 after a 27 year career with
the Pulaski Police Department; and
WHEREAS, since coming to the Town on April 20, 1987, Lt. Barr has proven himself a capable
and hardworking officer by working his way up through the ranks and becoming proficient with the
many details and procedures of each rank that he has held; and,
WHEREAS, starting with the rank of Police Officer, Lt. Barr progressed to Police Officer First Class
(Corporal), then to Sergeant and from there to Commander, where his primary duty was
supervising the operations of a street patrol squad; and,
WHEREAS, upon his promotion to Lieutenant of Operations, Lt. Barr became responsible for the
logistical operations for the entire department including: supervision of communications and
dispatching; oversight authority over all property including vehicles, firearms, uniforms and
equipment; procurement of all supplies and property for the department; and receiving, cataloging
and maintaining the inventory of all evidence collected by the department;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting
in regular session this 8th day of July 2014, that the Town Council does hereby commend and
thank Lt. Ervin R. Barr for his 27 years of dedicated service to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia and extend to him the best wishes of the Council, staff and citizens for an enjoyable and
fulfilling retirement that is well deserved.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted by the duly recorded vote of the
Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 8th day of July 2014 as
follows:
