Resolution Authorizing the Donation of Cemetery Lots to Churches
WHEREAS, Shirley Harris, current owner of four (4) vacant cemetery plots in Section I,
Lot 26 in Oakwood Cemetery, which is also known as the Glowers Family Lot,
requested Town Council's consideration for the Town to repurchase said plots; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Harris further proposed that if the Town chose not to repurchase the
four plots, she would donate them to a church for future use by a family in need,
pending formal authorization to do so from Town Council; and,
WHEREAS, the repurchase of burial spaces is at the discretion of the Town Council,
especially in cases where family members are already interred in other sections of a
family lot; and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council reviewed Ms. Harris's request at its regular meeting on
November 4, 2014;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session this 2"d day of December 2014, that Shirley Harris is
hereby authorized to donate the four (4) vacant cemetery plots, located in Section I, Lot
26, to a local religious body for use by families in need, at the discretion of the religious
body.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted by the duly recorded
vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia this 2nd day of December
2014 as follows:
