A Resolution of Thanks and Appreciation
• to William Mason Upon His Retirement
From the Pulaski Department of Parks and Facilities
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski desires to recognize those retiring employees who have rendered year$ of
service to the Town and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, William Mason began his service with the Town on June 5, 1997 as the Assistant Park
Manager for Gatewood, se-ving in that capacity for 18 years; and,
WHEREAS, in his years of service, including many unusual hours and weekends, Mr. Mason was always
eager to help Gatewood's many visitors, from fisherman to campers, treating them respectfully with his
usual cordial and friendly manner, whether it was dealing with the many questions he was asked or
assisting visitors with concerns; and,
WMEREpIS, Mr. Mason wasknown for his passion for the outdoors, his interest in wildlife, his willingness to
share his knowledge and passion for the outdoors with visitors to the park; and his watchful eye over the;
new and expanding population of wildlife, especially his favorites, the American bald eagles; and,
WHERE,pt$, in addition to assisting with the renovation of facilities at Gatewood and with the increasing
number of jisitors to the park over the years, Mr. Mason demonstrated his personal commitment to the perk
and its visitiors from assisting elderly cquples needing help with their rental boats or campsites to ferrying:
firefighters ~y boat across the reservoir to reach a forest fire that threatened to enter the park itself.
NOW, THEREFORE tae it RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in
regular session tFtiS 7tfi' day of:April 2015, does extend its sincerest thanks and appreciation to William
• Mason for his 18 years of service to the Town and for his special dedication and interest in protecting anti
enhancing Gatewood Park fer the enjoyment of our citizens.
BE it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council extends its best wishes to Mr. Mason for a rewardir~,q,
gratifying and well-earned retirement..
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adapted this 7~' day of April 2015 by the duly
recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,. Virginia as follows:
