Amending The Ownership,Maintenance,And.Other Commitments To The Virginia
Department Of Conservation And Resources Regarding The New River TrailExtension
WHEREAS, the Town has committed considerable resources of its citizens to the creation, design,
development and construction of the New River Trail Extension connecting the center of Town to the New
River Trail State Park; and .
WHEREAS, the development has succeeded and the construction is finished, and the Town will dedicate the
Trail Extension on Saturday,June 7,200.8;and
WHEREAS, the Trail Extension is a permanent asset to the Town and its residents, and also to thelarger
community as a recreational opportunity; and is and will be an economic development asset to the Town in
attracting and keeping sustainable businesses; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town shall hereafter commit to continued and perpetual
ownership of the Trail Extension, and shall commit to continued and perpetual maintenance of this asset, and
that any previous action of the Council in any way at variance with these goals is amended and repealed;and
—URTHER, that this resolution incorporate a continuing commitment of the Town to the Virginia Department
,F Conservation and Recreation for complementary and cooperative efforts regarding use, maintenance,
marketing,and any other mutual effortsregarding the New River Trail State Park and the Trail Extension.
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 3rd.day of June, 2008, by recorded vote of
the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,as follows:
