A RESOLUTION HONORING JEFFREY S. WORRELL
FOR HIS SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF TOWN COUNCIL AND AS MAYOR
WHEREAS, Jeffrey S. Worrell has faithfully and honorably served the citizens of the Town of Pulaski from July 1, 1998
to June 30, 2008 as a member of Town Council and subsequently from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2016 as Mayor, during
which period he guided the community through tumultuous economic changes leading to new possibilities of
prosperity;
WHEREAS, as a member of Town Council, Mr. Worrell supported the improvements of our parks, including the
creation of Heritage Park and the Dora Extension to the New River Trail State Park as well as improvements at
Gatewood;
WHEREAS, Mr. Worrell always supported economic development, understanding that traditional manufacturing was
going abroad, and that the community need to attract advanced manufacturing opportunities such as James Hardie
Building Products and Falls Stamping and Welding;
WHEREAS, as Mayor he never lost faith in the resilience of the Town's citizens to rebuild in the face of destructive
tornadoes and after the tragic loss of the historic Railway Station;
WHEREAS, his own love of history fostered his desire to see the continuation and expansion of the Raymond F.
Ratcliffe Memorial Transportation Museum giving a home to Dr. Brockmeyer's amazing scale model replica of the
Town that has attracted thousands of visitors since its opening;
WHEREAS, Mr. Worrell always lead by example, mindful that decorum and respect in public service reflected his own
values of love of the community, commitment to religious faith, and, of course, loyalty to local baseball.
WHEREAS, his service on various boards and committees is exemplary, and his volunteer hours working to repair
homes or guiding visitors through historical exhibits too many to count.
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski sitting in regular session this 5th day of
July 2016, that Town Council hereby recognizes the contributions of and expresses its appreciation to Jeffrey S. Worrell
for his eighteen years of public service to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 5th day of July 2016 by the duly recorded vote of
Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
