Policy Regarding Buy Back Policy of Cemetery Plots
in Town -Owned Cemeteries
WHEREAS, following review and discussion, the Town Council has deemed it necessary
to formalize the policy regarding repurchase by the Town of vacant cemetery plots in Town
cemeteries; and,
WHEREAS, Town Council authorized the staff to review and formulate a new policy to
expedite the repurchase by the Town of vacant cemetery plots;
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session this 6th day of March 2018 that the policy for repurchase
by the Town of vacant cemetery plots shall be as follows:
The Town Manager is authorized to repurchase cemetery plots following receipt of
information from the Engineering Department concerning the request. In the event
that a request to repurchase a cemetery plot is approved, the Town may repurchase
the plot for the amount originally paid to the Town of Pulaski by the owner or $300,
whichever is greater.
In addition, the Town may, as circumstances dictate, act as a facilitator for the sale
of vacant individual plots remaining in "family plots" in the older sections of Town
cemeteries. This policy shall apply to all Town -owned cemeteries within the
corporate limits of the Town of Pulaski. Should there be any extenuating
circumstances regarding repurchase of a vacant plot, Town Manager shall bring the
matter to the attention of Town Council for further consultation and direction.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 6th day of March 2018
by the duly recorded vote of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
