HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-13Resolution 2018-13 Resolution Proclaiming the Month of March as Red Cross Month WHEREAS, for 137 years the American Red Cross has provided help and assistance to the nation and its citizens, answering the call for service during times of war, natural disaster and personal loss; and, WHEREAS, the mission of the Red Cross extends not just to major events but also to those suffering from personal losses, be it a family that has lost their home in a fire or those who seek the whereabouts and welfare of loved ones serving in time of war; and, WHEREAS, the Red Cross also works to protect the nation's health and safety by providing 40% of the national blood supply as well as sponsoring training in First Aid and other techniques designed to teach and prepare others on how best to protect both life and property from sudden illness, accident or disaster; and, WHEREAS, locally the American Red Cross provides these services for Town and County families in a spirit of dignity and compassion during times of loss, uncertainty and need, as was demonstrated during the Tornado of 2011; NOW THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session this 6th day of March 2018, that the month of March is hereby proclaimed as "Red Cross Month" in the Town of Pulaski; FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council calls upon all citizens, community agencies, faith groups, medical facilities and businesses to support the work of the American Red Cross by giving their time, talent, and support to this worthy cause. This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 6th day of March 2018 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows: James A.
