A Resolution Concerning Upcoming Festivities at Gatewood Park
WHEREAS, to highlight the amenities available at Gatewood park and the new opportunities to
enjoy the unique atmosphere of Gatewood and the surrounding national forest, local businesses
have joined with the Town to sponsor upcoming special events at the park; and,
WHEREAS, in celebration of the uniqueness of Gatewood, the Town of Pulaski and the
Southwest Times have joined together to sponsor a special event on May 3, 2019 called a
"Board Meeting at the Park" which will feature free paddle board rentals, courtesy of Mountain 2
Island Paddle Board and Kayak Company, for Town employees to "test the waters" of this new
recreational activity through friendly competition and set the stage for a later spring-time
community event at the park; and,
WHEREAS, as part of the continuing celebration of Gatewood, the Town of Pulaski, the
Southwest Times and Mountain 2 Island Paddle Board and Kayak Company, along with the
Glenn Insurance Agency; the Travis Team; Mountain State ENT and Aesthetics and Gilmer
Sadler Ingram Sutherland and Hutton, Volvo NRV and Dublin Fitness 24 Hours have joined
together to sponsor the "Gusto at Gatewood Park Paddleboard Race", at Gatewood Park at
1 :00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, to allow persons of all ages to try the new, competitive
and fun-filled sport of paddle boarding in one of the New River Valley's most scenic venues.
NOW, THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia
sitting in regular session this 16th day of April 2019, that the Town encourages all citizens to
support the "Board Meeting at the Park" and most especially the "Gusto at Gatewood Park
Paddleboard Race" (Spring Edition) at Gatewood Park and to enjoy the unique natural attributes
and amenities of this most special place in the life of our community.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 16th day of April 2019 by
the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
