Resolution Accepting the Terms and Conditions of a FEMA Grant
for the Town of Pulaski, Flood Warning System 5% Initiative Project
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski Virginia has previously applied for grant funding to secure
weather stations to aid in warning of the threat of flooding to the Town and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Town was notified by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management
(VDEM) that the application for grant funds for installation of four weather stations had been
approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Hazard Mitigation
Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, the project is intended to provide for the construction of four weather stations, one
each at Tract Fork; Gatewood Dam; Hogan's Dam; and Indian Grave Peak, to warn of potential
flooding affecting the Town of Pulaski and to give the Town and its citizens adequate time to
respond to the threat of imminent flooding; and,
WHEREAS, the project cost of $57,750 shall be apportioned such that $55,000 will be from
state and federal funds and $2,750 shall be the responsibility of the Town;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia,
sitting in regular session this 17th day of November 2020, that the Town does hereby accept the
funding proffered by both FEMA and VDEM on the terms and conditions set forth in the grant
agreement for the project designated as FEMA -DR -4411 -VA -005, also known as The Town of
Pulaski, Flood Warning System 5% Initiative Project and agrees to provide the Town's matching
fund portion of $2,750; and,
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Manager is hereby authorized to execute the grant
agreement and other documentation that may be required by the granting agencies in the
course of the project.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 17th day of November 2020
by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows:
