Resolution Honoring Sgt. John F. Leeper Upon His Retirement
From the Pulaski Police Department
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia wishes to commend those employees who,
upon their retirement, have rendered a career of service to=the Town of Pulaski by giving of their time, talents
and expertise in service to the community; and.. its citizens, _and, '
WHEREAS, Sergeant John F Leeper has served a combined totalkof forty rnne>years as a member of the
U.S. Army and the Pulaski Police. Department in`a career, dedicated to`the defense-of the country and to the
protection and welfare of the5Towri's citizens in spite 0 the. hazards and,:dangers involved; and,
WHEREAS, Sgt. Leeper served twenty years in.=the U:S° Army retiring in.2004 with therank of Sergeant First
Class after serving m the 82nd Airborne; :the 2n`d Armored 'Division,,,' 'On, on Wheel's``),; the 29th Infantry
Division ("The Blue and the Gray"j and the 24th: Infantry Division;(."The Taro Division")"-during which he was
deployed to Iraq and laterto areas damaged-by<Hureicane'Katrma<and Hurncane Isabel,;and,
WHEREAS, Sgt. Le'epertoined the.PuiastiPolice Department on January 27, 1.992 as an officer and served
with distinction in the Patrol:Division as an officer, corporal, sergeanfiand'lieutenant and in the Investigations
Division as a lieutenant of investigations fornarcotics,and r
WHEREAS, as a valued member of the Pulaski; Police$Department,= Sgt. Leeper, was awarded the. Gallantry
Star; two Unit Citations; the. Honorable Service Award and was named Squad Officer of the Year four times;

WHEREAS, Sgt. John F Leeper will retire July 31, 2021 after completing 29 years ofservice as a valued and
distinguished member

NOW THEREFORE be it RESOLVED by'theTown CounciI.of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular
session this 20th day of Julyi 2021,, that the Town Council extends itsi highest thanks and commendations to
Sgt. John F. Leeper for his meritorious service to the,Town of Pulaski, Virginia 'and his country;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED'that=.the TqW Council and Town embloyees extend to Sergeant Leeper their
greatest respect and best wishes:fo.r a well deserved and `enjoyable' retirement .� `
