HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-53A Resolution 2021- 53 WHEREAS, the Town and the County conduct delinquent tax sales and WHEREAS, the Council occasionally receives requests to waive penalty and interest on such sales, and WHEREAS the Council is willing to consider waiver of these costs when these properties are improved, thereby promoting property development and maintenance NOW, THEREFORE be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 71h day of December 2021 that the Town of Pulaski hereby adopts the attached policy specifying the conditions under which penalties. and interest on properties purchased at delinquent tax sales can be reimbursed: This resolution is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 7' day of December 2021 by the duly recorded vote of the Town. Collins Mayor Policy for Waiver/Forgiveness of Penalty 8, Interest on Tax Sale Properties If the purchaser of a property obtained at a delinquent tax sale, either County or Town sale, requests the waiver of penalty and interest at the time of purchase, the Council agrees to reimburse those costs if improvements to the purchased property are made within two years of the purchase date. In no case will the Council waive delinquent taxes. The purchaser must be current with property taxes on all other properties in the Town to receive the reimbursement.
