Comprehensive Plan Update i. Working Group Report ii. Survey Analysis iii. Future Land Use (Mr. Deal was in the Council Chambers presenting the recommendations to Town Council for a significant amount of time and therefore missed a large portion of this part of the Planning Commission meeting. There was a not a recording device in the room and therefore, no minutes were recorded.) When Mr. Deal returned, Aphi had just wrapped up the survey analysis and was moving on to the Future Land Use Discussion. Aphi told the commissioners that the current FLU map is confusing for staff because it does not delineate types of desired future development within each category. A discussion ensued amongst the members of the Planning Commission regarding these various residential / commercial areas and whether or not they would like to have certain areas designated for higher and/or lower density development to guide staff. Also, Aphi presented to the commissioners a map of the downtown to discuss the intensity of uses that the current FLU would seemingly encourage in the downtown which would not be compatible with desired downtown development. Page 3 of 4 / October 19, 2021 She asked the commissioners if they would like her to further examine possible amendments to the Future Land Use map that would indicate target areas for low to medium density residential and differing degrees of intensity for commercial areas. A verbal consensus was given in support of continuing this discussion at the meeting in November. 5.
